Published by PS in 2004, this is (or was, at the time) a thorough bibliography of the writer, where he shares thoughts and behind-the-scenes details on his novels and short stories. As a working bibliography it’s probably very good, but I lost track fairly quickly. However, as a mine of information about some of the best horror fiction to come out of England in the past eighteen or so years, this is invaluable.Inspirations, reasons, bits left out or put back in, Smith has something to say about each of his stories, some parts more revealing and indepth than others, but never less than interesting.I loved it and would heartily recommend it to anyone interested in Smith himself or writing in general. And for the record, my favourite of his shorts is “Later”.
