I read this as a textbook, not cover to cover, so I don't give it 4 stars as a hard-to-put-down read, but as a good academic book. Very good index, table of contents, notes, for instance, for reference. But also good writing and content. If you are interested in recent scholarship on the mix of thougts, ideas and discussions happening in Judaism during Hellenistic and Roman times, I'd recommend. 'New scholarship' here used as in a more open-minded, complicated, and accurate description of Judaism in this period and the context in which the Jesus movment appeared, than traditional, older Christian views.
