Read this again for a book group at Goodreads during the holidays — and I loved it again. For its purposes, I think it's about as perfectly executed as any fictional work could be. The story, the characters, the writing, the message — flawless. It's all wonderful and memorable and so absolutely charming. I can just picture the pure joy Dickens must've had reading this inspiring classic fable aloud to his community. In fact, being there for one of those lively readings would be the only thing I imagine that could make this story any better.
